History:

The Chair Man and The Tea Lady started as a business in 1993. Jeffrey (The Chair Man) and Linda (The Tea Lady) work as a team to bring smiles to our many customers.

Jeffrey has a special talent for bringing chairs with natural seats - hand cane, pressed cane, natural rush, paper rush, binder cane, splint, and even shaker tape - back to life so that another generation can enjoy the beauty of items made (often times) long ago.

While displaying completed chairs (as well as porcelain (mostly teapots and teacups), pottery (specialize in Hall teapots) and glassware) at antique shows around the New England area, we also have many chairs at our business that are either ready for purchase or need to have their seats completed so that they can join your home.

Everyone seems to have a chair - sometimes it's a family heirloom, other times part of a set - that needs to have work done to make it usable again.

Jeffrey Grossman (The Chair Man - of The Chair Man and The Tea Lady) is a perfectionist who can re-do (almost) any natural seat - hand cane, pressed cane, natural rush, paper rush, binder cane, splint, and even shaker tape. He takes a lot of pride in his work and enjoys the fact that he has many customers who come back for additional work on other pieces of furniture. Often times, the joints of a chair just need to be re-glued to make it sturdy again - this is the place to come!

Customers are welcomed to call for an appointment to drop off their chairs 7 days a week. Please note that there is often a 2-4 month backlog of work 'on the list', so items are completed in the order that they are received.

Service Area:

Within the Greater Boston Area, pick-up and delivery can be arranged for a fee of $25 each direction (this will include as many items as will fit into our van).

We can also arrange pick-ups and deliveries at our shows. We try to be very flexible.

When we take your chair, you will be given a receipt with the quoted charge for the completed job. No monetary deposits are necessary; we have your piece of furniture as 'collateral'.

Once the job has been completed and it's appreciated if pick-up/delivery can be arranged as quickly as possible so that there's room for incoming work. Payment in full is expected at this time.
